Fun in the Fishbowl: Round and Round, 2024

At first glance this appears to be a pretty picture celebrating “cute” marine park mammals. Yet caught in the fishnet framing the work are exploded seal  bombs, a deafening firecracker used to drive cetacean pods towards the captors’ net. As viewers approach, a motion detector activates a recording of orcas' clicks and whistles, followed by a chorus of children singing a nursery tune: 

“The Whales In the Tank Go Round and Round...All Through Their Lives."
